Types of Financial Aid

Alvernia University offers student loans and military benefits to online students after they’ve applied for financial aid.

  • Loans: One option for financial assistance is to obtain federal or private loans. When you borrow money from a federal or private lender, that amount and the interest it accrues throughout the life of the loan must be repaid. Federal loans typically include lower interest rates than private loans.
  • Pell Grant: Available for undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, Pell Grants do not have to be repaid.
  • Pennsylvania State Grant: Undergraduate students who are residents of Pennsylvania may be eligible to receive the PA State Grant from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).
  • Military Benefits: Students who are currently serving the U.S. military and students who are U.S. military veterans can apply for educational benefits. For information, visit our Military & Veterans page.
