While we try to keep the tuition costs for our online programs affordable, you may still need help with funding. Through financial assistance programs, you can reduce the amount of out-of-pocket expenses.
Types of Financial Aid
Alvernia University offers student loans and military benefits to online students after they’ve applied for financial aid.
- Loans: One option for financial assistance is to obtain federal or private loans. When you borrow money from a federal or private lender, that amount and the interest it accrues throughout the life of the loan must be repaid. Federal loans typically include lower interest rates than private loans.
- Pell Grant: Available for undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, Pell Grants do not have to be repaid.
- Pennsylvania State Grant: Undergraduate students who are residents of Pennsylvania may be eligible to receive the PA State Grant from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).
- Military Benefits: Students who are currently serving the U.S. military and students who are U.S. military veterans can apply for educational benefits. For information, visit our Military & Veterans page.
Applying for Financial Aid
To determine your financial aid eligibility, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As you complete the FAFSA, you will need Alvernia University’s school code: 003233.
After submitting your application, your information will be processed and sent to Alvernia within two weeks. We will then prepare your financial aid package and send it to you after you have been accepted into your program and registered.
You must complete a FAFSA each award year, at least 60 days prior to the end of your academic year, to maintain your financial aid benefits.
